Program Overview

What You'll Experience:

Each rehearsal offers a complete, well-rounded musical experience with two essential components:

  • String Orchestra Rehearsal with Sébastien Ridoré—Make beautiful music together as you develop your collaborative playing skills and expand your repertoire
  • Musicianship with Adriana Ausch-Simmel—Dive into music theory, rhythm, and ear training to become a confident musician who truly understands the music you’re playing
  • This ensemble experience offers strong preparation for participation in BYSO's more advanced ensembles

This all-encompassing experience in music learning combines the joy of playing with others, the rigor of musical training, and the excitement of embodied learning. Whether you’re playing, moving, singing, or solving musical puzzles, you’ll discover new dimensions of musical expression every week!

Program Details:

  • When: Saturdays, 1:45pm - 3:15pm
    January 24 - April 25, 2025
  • Where: BYSO Youth Center for Music
  • Final Showcase Performance: April 30, 2025
  • Who: Recommended for string students in grades 1-3 who have played for at least one year and are able to read music.
    •  
    • Recommended level for violin: end of Suzuki Book 1 through Book 3
    • Recommended level for viola, cello, bass: middle of Suzuki Book 1 through Book 2
    • Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about the recommended playing level

Instructors:

Sébastien Ridoré is a violist from Stoneham, Massachusetts. As a child, he participated in the Intensive Community Program and played with the Boston Youth Symphony. He continued his studies at the Sunderman Conservatory, earning his Bachelors in Music Performance in 2019. In addition to his classical focus, Sébastien studied Latin percussion and jazz improvisation. Since graduating, Sébastien co-founded the chamber collective Analog By Choice and plays viola in the Dubois Symphony Orchestra. Apart from performing, Sébastien is a music educator working for BYSO and several other music schools in the Boston area. 

Adriana Ausch enjoys a career as a singer and Dalcroze Eurhythmics teaching artist. As cross-style singer she has performed solo and chamber programs and presented Dalcroze workshops in Boston, New York, Toronto and Bucharest. She currently teaches as Dalcroze Eurhythmics faculty at Longy School of Music of Bard College.

Adriana Ausch teaches extensively Dalcroze Eurhythmics classes for children at The Winchester Community Music School and at the Tufts Community Music Programs. Adriana is the founder and president of the New England Dalcroze Chapter in Boston since 2011 and was the Chair of the Dalcroze Eurhythmics department at the Winchester Community Music School in Winchester, MA from 2006 until 2022.
