BYSO AUDITIONS FOR THE 2026-27 SEASON
Thank you for your interest in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras! Please read below carefully for information about the 2026-27 BYSO audition process.
STRINGS
Though the deadline for the preliminary audition video, and current string student application deadline passed on March 31, we are accepting applications on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire by emailing us at byso@bu.edu.
Timeline
- Late-February: web application open via BYSO website
- Tuesday, March 31 at 11:59pm: Final deadline to submit preliminary video and application with application fee
- Late-April: preliminary results released; live audition scheduling link sent
- Live auditions will take place May 18-26
It is our goal to hear as many applicants as possible in a live audition. If the number of applicants exceeds our capacity to schedule live auditions, however, we reserve the right to make decisions based on the preliminary video alone, when an accurate decision can be made regarding placement or non-placement in BYSO.
WOODWINDS, BRASS, PERCUSSION, PIANO, and HARP
No preliminary audition video is required. Following the submission of the application and application fee, students will receive an audition scheduling email. Audition slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are encouraged to apply early as audition slots will fill up.
