This season, BYSO is proud to introduce a dynamic array of new classes designed to enrich students’ musical journey.
MUSICIANSHIP AT BYSO: This season at BYSO join our fun and Musicianship classes, where children explore music using movement, rhythm, games, and imagination! Designed for young musicians and beginners alike, these classes help children develop improvisation, listening skills, musicality, and creativity.
Whether your child is already learning an instrument or just loves to move, these classes will build a strong musical foundation that supports better rhythm, focus, expression, and confidence in all areas of music and learning.
*Musicianship classes are open to both BYSO members and non-members. For BYSO members: Essentials level 1 and 2 are ideal for current members of PE, PW, and YPSO."
Music Basics / Beginner
Music Basics (grades 1-3): Dalcroze Eurythmics, sometimes called "Music through movement," nurtures musicality, creativity, imagination, and expressivity. Students learn to listen for rhythm, pitch, harmony, and more, using body movement, voice, and instruments to respond. Students will learn to improvise and create with their movements. Students participate in a performance and art exhibition showcasing the week's fun work and activities with their peers. No prior music experience is necessary. Saturdays, 2:30 – 3:30
Essentials for Young Artists I / Intermediate
Essentials for Young Artists Level I (grades 4-5): Essentials for Young Artists is designed to strengthen your child’s foundational skills in preparation for the demands of more advanced ensembles. As a complement to instrument lessons, Essentials for Young Artists helps students develop the tools needed to learn their ensemble repertoire accurately, efficiently, and independent. Saturdays, 3:30 – 4:30
Essentials for Young Artists II / Advanced
Essentials for Young Artists Level II (grades 6-8): Essentials for Young Artists is designed to strengthen your child’s foundational skills in preparation for the demands of more advanced ensembles. As a complement to instrument lessons, Essentials For Young Artists helps students develop the tools needed to learn their ensemble repertoire accurately, efficiently, and independent. Meet your instructor, Adriana Ausch
Adriana Ausch enjoys a career as a singer and Dalcroze Eurhythmics teaching artist. As cross-style singer she has performed solo and chamber programs and presented Dalcroze workshops in Boston, New York, Toronto and Bucharest. She currently teaches as Dalcroze Eurhythmics faculty at Longy School of Music of Bard College.
Adriana Ausch teaches extensively Dalcroze Eurhythmics classes for children at The Winchester Community Music School and at the Tufts Community Music Programs. Adriana is the founder and president of the New England Dalcroze Chapter in Boston since 2011 and was the Chair of the Dalcroze Eurhythmics department at the Winchester Community Music School in Winchester, MA from 2006 until 2022.
