Essentials For Young Artists / Develop Musicianship and Artistry
A summer intensive that provides a rigorous skill-building experience to complement instrumental playing.
Essentials For Young Artists
Essentials for Young Artists provides a rigorous skill-building experience to complement your instrumental playing. Students learn in depth how to internalize elements of rhythm and ear training, and how to become more expressive and artistic. You’ll discover how to learn new music with greater independence and confidence.
These classes are based in the Dalcroze Eurhythmics approach to learning, which integrates the ear, mind, and body through movement, singing, and improvisation.

Adriana Ausch enjoys a career as a singer and Dalcroze Eurhythmics teaching artist. As cross-style singer she has performed solo and chamber programs and presented Dalcroze workshops in Boston, New York, Toronto and Bucharest. She currently teaches as Dalcroze Eurhythmics faculty at Longy School of Music of Bard College.
Adriana Ausch teaches extensively Dalcroze Eurhythmics classes for children at The Winchester Community Music School and at the Tufts Community Music Programs. Adriana is the founder and president of the New England Dalcroze Chapter in Boston since 2011 and was the Chair of the Dalcroze Eurhythmics department at the Winchester Community Music School in Winchester, MA from 2006 until 2022.
“Dalcroze Eurhythmics is such a dynamic and engaging approach to music education. It not only enhances musical skills but also fosters creativity, rhythmic understanding, and a deep connection to music through movement. Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras is already known for its high-quality musical education, so adding a Dalcroze summer program will bring a new dimension to their musical training. It will be a fantastic journey for everyone involved!”
Eiko Ishizuka, Diplôme Supérieur, is a Director of Dalcroze Institute of New England – Supported by Tufts University Community Music Program.
Ms. Ishizuka is the chair of the Dalcroze and Early Childhood department at Winchester Community Music School, a faculty member at Longy School of Music of Bard college, and teaches piano to students of all ages. She travels to give Dalcroze workshops for musicians and music teachers in Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia, as well as at New England Conservatory, the Dalcroze National Conference (most recently in Cleveland), and the Dalcroze Congress in Geneva, Switzerland.
“The Dalcroze experience provides fundamental musicianship skills and enriches music performance at any age. It is my highest honor to launch the Dalcroze Program at BYSO. I am thrilled to provide a world-class musical experience not available at any other youth symphony program in the USA.”
