President and CEO / Catherine Weiskel

Catherine Weiskel has been Executive Director of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) since 1996. Ms. Weiskel received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA and a Master of Arts in Musicology from Villa Schifanoia Graduate School of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy. Prior to her appointment at BYSO, Ms. Weiskel served as the Assistant to the Associate Dean of the Yale School of Music, the Concert Manager for the Yale in Norfolk Series, the Assistant Manager of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the Executive Director of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. She has been a member of the Orchestra Management Fellowship Task Force for the League of American Orchestras (League) and a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts. For four years she served as Secretary and subsequently President of the Regional Orchestra Managers Association of the League. She is a former member of the League’s Board of Directors. Currently she serves as a member of the Harvard Radcliff Orchestra Pierian Foundation Board of Directors. During her 18 year tenure at BYSO, she has worked in tandem with Music Director, Federico Cortese, to expand, enhance and enrich the artistic programs for BYSO. The budget of BYSO has increased from $250,000 in 1996 to nearly $3 million today.
