BYSO created the Intensive Community Program (ICP) in 1998 to provide an avenue for students from communities of color and low-income communities in Boston to join BYSO’s competitive orchestras. Grounded in the firm belief in the power of exceptional classical music education to change lives, the ICP provides students with long-term, rigorous musical training, resources, and mentorship—setting them on a proven pathway to musical and personal success through the development of skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, and leadership.
