About
Boston Youth Symphony (BYS) is a full symphonic orchestra composed of approximately 115 outstanding players who demonstrate strong musicianship and a highly advanced technical level. The group performs a wide range of demanding orchestral repertoire, led by Music Director Federico Cortese, including the annual BYSO Opera.

Summer Music Camp
Students that audition into BYS, REP and JRO begin their season at BYSO’s summer music camp in Sidney, ME.
Full Length Operas
BYSO is the only youth orchestra in the US to perform full-length operas and is an essential part of the BYSO experience.
Notable Venues
BYS has performed at Symphony Hall, Sanders Theatre, Kresge Auditorium at MIT and more.
