/ Jumping into BYSO’s 2022-23 Season

Welcome to BYSO's 65th Season!

BYSO's 65th season is already off to a great start! Enjoy photos below from BYSO camp in Maine, ICP Camp at Noble and Greenough School, and our first rehearsal of the season!

BYSO Camp 2022 at New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine

"Every year, BYSO camp is a highlight of my summer, one last moment of happiness before heading back to school. In my eyes, the perfect way to end any summer is two weeks on a lake in Maine, surrounded by extraordinary music and close friends. The amount of growth I experience each August at camp, both as a person and as a musician, is unrivaled by the other eleven months of my year. In a way, BYSO camp is a quickly-paced microcosm, setting the groundwork for everything else that we will accomplish in the rest of the season. Music that would ordinarily take months of rehearsal is prepared in the blink of an eye; friendships that would take years to form appear seemingly overnight. There’s a unique kind of magic to that time at BYSO camp: magic that keeps me wishing the days never ended and keeps me looking forward to the next time I return." -Ben Lyczkowski, BYS

"From playing cards after a long day of rehearsals to watching opera screenings under the stars, my favorite part about BYSO camp is its overwhelming sense of community. I've made some of my best friends this past summer and grown even closer with my older ones, and I loved being able to connect with my orchestra in an informal setting at our annual talent show. Being surrounded by people who are just as passionate about music as I am at BYSO has inspired me to continue playing in college and beyond, and I'm so grateful to be a part of the program!" -Ella Kim, BYS

"BYSO camp gave members the opportunity to immerse themselves in music. During this time, my understanding of our music and orchestral performance in general deepened through collaboration with peers, daily rehearsals, and instruction from artistic staff. Besides music, I got to know my peers and make friendships. Our nightly activity allowed us to have fun and relax from a long day of music; the counselors planned events ranging from camper games to movie night. It was so wonderful to spend a bit of my summer becoming a better musician and person in Maine!" -Ella Allen, BYS

ICP Camp at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, MA

"I love ICP because it gives me so many opportunities, it is always here for you when you need it. ICP creates many friendships. The music teachers working with us are the best in the industry and are always pushing us to do our best." -Regiana Toussaint, ICP/JRO
