Summer Camp
The Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) Summer Camp is held in August at New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine. This experience starts off the season with intensive orchestral rehearsals, as well as chamber music coaching from some of Boston's most accomplished professional musicians. Here, new and returning BYSO members will get acquainted as they begin work on the orchestral repertoire for the upcoming season.
In order to prepare for a successful season, attendance at the BYSO camp is mandatory for all members. The schedule for camp 2008 is:Boston Youth Symphony: August 12 – 23, 2008
Repertory Orchestra: August 17 – 23, 2008
Junior Repertory Orchestra: August 12 – 17, 2008
Tuition includes all meals, housing, musical instruction, recreation and round trip transportation by chartered bus from Boston University. Financial aid is available based on need.
Founded in 1937, the New England Music Camp has been dedicated to providing a superb summer environment for music-making. The camp site offers comfortable housing and dining accommodations, a canteen, an infirmary staffed 24 hours a day with a full-time registered nurse, plus many spacious rehearsal and practice facilities. Alumni Hall, a 500 seat concert hall, serves as an ideal venue for orchestra rehearsal and performances and chamber music recitals while the "Bowl-in-the-Pines" presents the perfect setting for summer performances of large ensembles.
