On April 23rd, 1961, (G)BYSO had the honor of performing at world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York, performing works by Verdi, Sibelius and Wagner. The orchestra presented a second concert one week later at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall.
In recognition of these momentous occasions, Governor John A. Volpe named April 23rd “Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras Day” in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
As we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of BYSO Day, an anonymous donor has agreed to match all gifts from now until BYSO Day on April 23rd, up to $10,000.
This means that your gift is automatically DOUBLED, and makes twice the impact on our talented young musicians.
