1970 Fr. Bruce S. Bevans, Trombone Richmond, Virginia My fondest memories are of our trip to Israel. The Trombone section was wonderful. Mr. Eisenberg didn't seem impressed with us. He once yelled at us us during rehearsal of the Roman Carnival Overture, "Come on guys, you sound like a bad town band!" Dr. Milton Stevens gave us the polish we needed the summer before our departure. I still play the trombone daily. I spent 21 years in the USAF Band and Symphony in Washington, DC, touring the United States.
Kathleen Chane, Violin
Christine M. (Casey) Cohen, Violin Guildford, Connecticut I am teaching elementary school music, participating in a book discussion group, taking care of two Jack Russell terriers, still practicing and playing, often with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony in New London.
Paul Costanzo, Trumpet Voice actor/producer/director When I reflect on those days, I realize they were absolutely some of the best times of my young life. I looked forward to every weekend to be able to perform with my talented friends. The wonderful, supportive environment that for me was GBYSO, enabled all of us the safety we needed so that we could grow both personally and musically. I was always proud to be a part of what I considered to be a very special organization.Roger Kimball, Cello
Ronan Lefkowitz, Violin Chestnut hill, Massachusetts Having raised three children, two of whom went through GBYSO, my wife and I find ourselves empty nesters looking forward to our future generation, which may include some musicians, one never knows. I am finishing my 30th year with the BSO and have just begun membership on the GBYSO Board. I find it quite gratifying to look forward to a future with young people enthusiastic about classical music. Where there is youthful energy there is hope.
Richard Kravetz, Percussion
Curtis Macomber, Violin New York, New York GBYSO was my social life, my salvation from a sports-obsessed high school, and a first step in my career. I am a free-lance chamber music player and soloist in New York City, and I teach at Juilliard and Manhattan. Those tours to Switzerland and Israel were wonderful, as were the New England tours and the "retreats" to Agassiz Village. GBYSO played a substantial role in my decision to become a professional musician.
Scott Record, Percussion
Irene Mrose Rissi, Violin New London, CT We have moved again, this time back to New England, to New London, CT, where I am teaching and doing some freelancing.
Dr. Dana Welts, Clarinet
Noel Webb, Violin I have fond memories of my years in GBYSO, particularly the performances of Ronan and Curtis. Thank you guys. I'm a smooth jazz violinist traveling the world with my band www.noelwebb.com I also do classical session work in Hollywood. And I own a music library servicing film studios. GBYSO inspired my love of passion and technique. Lets keep encouraging that in young people. David Wilczewski, Clarinet Previous Page Back to Where are they now? Next Page |
