Annual Fund
Your generous donation will make a difference by helping the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) reach this season's Annual Fund Goal of $215,000. Your contribution supports artistic excellence, concert production, community outreach, tour support, and financial aid.
Artistic Excellence
Our musicians interact with highly talented and committed artistic faculty, including conductors and professional coaches as well as renowned guest artists.
Concert Production
The BYSO offers its musicians performance opportunities in world class venues, such as Symphony Hall and Sanders Theatre at Harvard University. The total cost for producing sixteen performances a season is approximately $547,000.
Community Outreach
The BYSO's Intensive Community Program (ICP), a rigorous stringed instrument training for underrepresented youth, has been cited by the National Endowment for the Arts as a model program. The total project budget for this program is $531,000.
Tour Support
Every other year the Boston Youth Symphony embarks on a two-week international tour performing in acclaimed festivals and world class venues. In June 2008, the Boston Youth Symphony will travel to Germany, and will perform by invitation at the Gewandhaus, as part of its 19th international tour. The total cost for the tour is $450,000.
Financial Aid
Once accepted into the BYSO, no child is denied the opportunity to play in an orchestra based on financial difficulty. During the 2007-2008 50th Anniversary Season, BYSO will provide more than $100,000 in financial assistance.
