BYSO receives prestigious National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Award
This May the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced the latest recipients of Learning in the Arts awards totaling $7.4 million.
Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth grants strengthen American educational opportunities by providing children with focused arts instruction, exposing them to legendary artists, and introducing children to artworks of the highest quality. Through the Learning in the Arts category, 229 grants out of 706 eligible applications are recommended for funding for a total of $7.4 million.
Out of this competitive pool of 706 applicants, BYSO was awarded a $78,000 grant, which was the 5th highest Learning in the Arts award this year. Even as the government's allocation of funding to the NEA has decreased over the last four years, BYSO's awards have increased from $35,000 in 2007 to this year's $78,000 award.
