Katie Bedard, Oboe
Rose Bellini, Cello
Bloomington, Indiana
I studied cello at Indiana University with Janos Starker and Emilio Colón, earned a B.M. and M.M ., and am nearly finished with my doctorate (D.M.) I now live in New York City, working by day as Executive and Development Assistant at the Orchestra of St. Luke's, and play in various orchestras and ensembles in the area, teach cello lessons, and perform as much new music as possible!
Sarah Darling, Viola
Great to be back in touch! After a BA in music at Harvard and four years in Europe (Amsterdam and Freiburg) I'm back in Boston starting out a freelance life in the city that embraces music of every period--and getting a long awaited Master's degree with Kim Kashkashian at NEC. Watch for these names in the future: the Arcturus Chamber Ensemble, Boston Hausmusik, and the Rosetta String Trio! Best wishes to everyone else out there--if you're passing through Boston, you're always welcome for a cup of tea.
Kristin Dissinger, Cello
Erin Foley, Violin
I am currently the Orchestra Director at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida. Check us out on the web at www.ohsorchestra.com! I started the program in 2002 with only 5 students and now we are up to just over 70. I am a National Board Certified Teacher and would love to mentor any GBYSO alums going through the application process. Just send me an email. I freelance on violin and viola in the greater Orlando area. I am a staff member of the FL Ambassadors of Music, an organization that takes outstanding young Florida musicians on a performance tour through Europe.
Borgie Grant, Percussion
Hannah Greene, Violin
I am in my fourth year in a musicology program at UC Berkeley. I'm studying Czech music from the 20s and 30s and do a bit of singing and playing on the side. Teaching in our summer music program for kids reminded me of GBYSO and many fond memories.
Michael J. Hartery, Double Bass
I now live in Boston in the Fort Point area. I make a living as a freelance classical double bassist. I also have a repair studio where I service double basses.
Aron Holzman, Violin
Bethany Johnson, Viola
Jon Lam, Violin
Clark Lee, Violin
Nyssa Patten, Violin
Boston, Massachusetts
I am currently getting my masters in teaching English as a second language from Simmons College and teaching part time. I did my undergrad at Boston University in violin performance, but discovered that nothing could match the fantastic time I had in GBYSO and decided to keep it as something I love to do on the side.
Sarah Paysnick, Flute
Brookline, Massachusetts
After graduating from Ithaca College where I studied flute with Wendy Mehne, I moved to Boston and worked for the von Huene Workshop and the Early Music Shop of New England, ushered for the Boston Symphony, and taught general music at Weston Middle School. This year I am living in Santa Barbara and studying privately with Jill Felber of ZAWA!.
Dawn Provost, Bass
James Raftopoulos, Viola
Rochester, New York
I'm at Eastman School of Music, 1st year Masters. I'm in the Orchestral Studies Diploma program which allows me to play with the Rochester Philharmonic in their Philharmonic Series and it's the most amazing experience. I'm studying with George Taylor and love everything about the school and thank GBYSO for giving me my first real important orchestral experience.
